Description

Broccoli Crustless Quiche with Cheddar and Bacon – Easy, cheesy, and delicious. Perfect for a quick and comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup (240ml) half-and-half or whole milk
  • 2 cups (180g) fresh broccoli florets, chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 1½ cups (170g) shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • ½ cup (75g) diced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (about 2 teaspoons)
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried herbs (thyme, basil, or herbes de Provence)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ⅛ teaspoon nutmeg (freshly grated is best)
  • Cooking spray or butter for greasing the dish

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prepare Your Ingredients Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch pie plate or quiche dish with cooking spray or butter. Chop your broccoli into bite-sized florets and dice your onion. Grate your cheese if using a block rather than pre-shredded. Having everything prepped will make assembly quick and seamless.
  2. Step 2: Pre-Cook the Vegetables Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onions and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the broccoli florets and cook for 2-3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Step 3: Prepare the Egg Mixture In a large bowl, whisk the eggs until well beaten. Pour in the half-and-half or milk while continuing to whisk. Add the dried herbs, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Whisk until everything is well combined. The mixture should have a uniform color and consistency.
  4. Step 4: Assemble the Quiche Spread the cooled broccoli mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle 1 cup of the shredded cheese over the vegetables. Slowly pour the egg mixture over the vegetables and cheese, allowing it to settle and distribute evenly. Top with the remaining ½ cup of cheese.
  5. Step 5: Bake to Perfection Place the **Broccoli Crustless Quiche** in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden and the center is just set but still has a slight jiggle. If the top begins to brown too quickly, loosely cover with aluminum foil. You’ll know it’s done when a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
  6. Step 6: Rest and Serve Allow the quiche to rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing. This resting period helps the quiche set completely and makes for cleaner slices. Serve warm or at room temperature for the best flavor. A sprinkle of fresh herbs on top adds a beautiful finishing touch to your **Broccoli Crustless Quiche**.

Notes

Fresh ingredients will always yield the best flavor results.
