Ingredients
- Store-bought angel food cake (10-12 inches)
- Instant vanilla pudding mix (3.4 oz each, 2 packages)
- Cold milk (3 cups)
- Cream cheese, softened (8 oz)
- Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
- Fresh strawberries, sliced (2 cups)
- Fresh blueberries (1 cup)
- Frozen whipped topping, thawed (1 container, 8 oz)
- Sliced almonds, toasted (2 tablespoons, optional)
- Powdered sugar (1 tablespoon, for dusting)
- Lemon zest (1 teaspoon, optional)
- Almond extract (ΒΌ teaspoon, optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: Cut the Cake Cut the angel food cake horizontally into three even layers. Place the bottom layer in a 9×13-inch dish or trifle bowl.
- Step 2: Prepare Pudding Whisk vanilla pudding mix with cold milk until slightly thickened. Set aside for 5 minutes to further thicken.
- Step 3: Make Cream Cheese Mixture Beat cream cheese until smooth, then add vanilla extract and half of the pudding mixture. Mix until smooth.
- Step 4: Layer the Dessert Spread half of the cream cheese mixture over the bottom cake layer. Place half of the sliced fruits on top.
- Step 5: Repeat Layering Add the middle cake layer and repeat the cream cheese and fruit layering process.
- Step 6: Add Final Layer Top with the last cake layer and spread remaining pudding over it.
- Step 7: Refrigerate Chill the dessert for at least 4 hours or overnight to set the flavors.
- Step 8: Garnish and Serve Before serving, top with whipped topping, extra berries, almonds, powdered sugar, and optional lemon zest. Enjoy!
