Description

White Chocolate Crinkle Cookies – Indulgent white chocolate, soft and chewy cookies perfect for Valentine’s Day. Easy to bake and guaranteed to please!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2½ cups (312g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 8 oz (226g) high-quality white chocolate, chopped
  • 4 tbsp (56g) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp almond extract (optional, enhances the flavor)
  • ¾ cup (90g) powdered sugar (for coating)
  • Optional Valentine’s additions: 2-3 drops red food coloring, ⅓ cup freeze-dried strawberries (crushed), or ¼ cup red sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Begin by melting the white chocolate in a double boiler or microwave using the low-and-slow method described in the pro tips. Once melted, set aside to cool slightly while preparing other ingredients. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until evenly combined.
  2. Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. The mixture should noticeably change color to a pale yellow. This aerates the butter, creating tiny pockets that help give your White Chocolate Crinkle Cookies their perfect texture.
  3. Step 3: Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Pour in the melted (but cooled) white chocolate, vanilla extract, and almond extract if using. If making Valentine’s themed cookies, add your red food coloring at this stage. Beat until fully incorporated and the batter looks smooth and glossy.
  4. Step 4: Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix – stop as soon as no dry flour patches remain. The dough will be quite soft at this point, which is exactly what you want for these special Valentine’s treats.
  5. Step 5: Cover the dough tightly with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface of the dough to prevent it from drying out. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight – this is essential for those perfect Valentine’s Day White Chocolate Crinkle Cookies.
  6. Step 6: When ready to bake, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper. Place granulated sugar and powdered sugar in separate shallow bowls. Scoop chilled dough into 1½-tablespoon portions, roll into balls, then roll first in granulated sugar and then generously in powdered sugar.
  7. Step 7: Place cookies on prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes, just until the edges are set but the centers still appear slightly soft. The cookies should have a beautiful cracked appearance revealing the cookie beneath the powdered coating – the signature look of perfect White Chocolate Crinkle Cookies.
